I'm a small person - physically. I'm not very tall. And in crowds, I'm easily shoved. Because other people are VERY important and they have to be places. Me and my smallness can fuck right off in this cases. Except, I'm kind of over it. A man pushed me the other day in London Bridge. I told him not to. I happened to be voice noting a friend at the time - so I happened to record it. Which happens to be here - so you can listen to it.
I don't know if you need to hear this today but... NO ONE gets to push you... You were made to take up space. You were made to burn bright. You were made experience this world without apology. The world may try to make you smaller. More palatable. More convenient. Say NO. The world doesn't get to decide how you ARE in the world. You are worthy. You get to be you. You get to be the whole of you. You get to tell everyone not to push you. We may not have met, or exchanged words, but I have been pushed. And I see you. Ash. |

I just spoke to a woman who said that she did some presentation training once (as a participant), and when the training was over, she was worse in front of an audience than she had been when she started. So she hasn't presented again. In 27 YEARS. Then last week, she got up in front of a group of women (including me), and she spoke about her life, delivered her message, and got back on the audience-facing horse. She did this, because she doesn't work in corporate anymore where audience-facing...
