Good morning you spicy little coochie crumpet

Good morning, you spicy little coochie crumpet

Woke up this morning with the dread?
The fear?

Say to yourself 'SELF'
(and you'll know it's you because you'll be standing in front of the mirror massaging your OWN face...)

"SELF, I'M GOING TO BREATHE

WARM UP MY ORGANS OF ARTICULATION

GET MY DIAPHRAGM WORKING (because it is my speaking and presenting bestie)

ACCESS ALL MY RESONANCE CHAMBERS FOR A POWERFUL, COMMANDING, CHARISMATIC VOICE

AND NAIL THE SHIT OUT OF THIS."

Got a zoom call today?
Hosting a workshop?
Giving a talk?
Networking?
Sales call?
PITCHING?

Then get 👏 audience 👏 ready 👏

No going into that shit cold, okay? Okay.

Today is going to be a good fucking day.

And no audience-facing engagement is going to take that away.

NOW...

Let's talk about where this fear of speaking *actually* comes from (Britney Spears makes an appearance in this one 😏)...

You know the fear. I know you know it, because I KNOW IT. And I work on stage for a living. It's my job.

Palms sweat...

Your heart pounds...

Blood leaks out of your eyeballs...

It's scary.

So...

How are you getting ready?
What are you doing BEFORE the moment arrives?
How are you preparing yourself physically to be in the spotlight? (You are an entire BODY, not a talking head)

There are so many things you can do before you step onstage, before you click start on zoom, before you arrive at the networking event, before the sales pitch...

These practices will get you in a place of CALM and CONFIDENCE. And your charisma levels will break through the fourth wall, into the audience, and woo the pants off them.

When you prepare yourself to shine, magic happens. Trust me. Actors who've been onstage their entire lives are doing it daily.

This is what I teach in Showing Up 2.0 (which includes access to the CALM Framework).

If this is stirring your insides, let's chat. Or hit reply with your questions.

THIS IS SHOWING UP 2.0, YOU BLOODY BEAUTIFULS. It's a vibe.

Ash.

I want to share as much as I've learned with you.Like how to...Write copy because you know who your audience is, not because you're guessingWrite in the voice of your customerWrite copy that kisses the screenWrite in a way that you stand outEnd blank page syndromeYou feeling me?

An A and an H for the name Ashleigh Harvey

Not a soft, cuddly toy lioness. Not a woman whipping her hair about to smash the patriarchy kind of lioness. This is not a metaphor. I'm face to face with a real-life, breathing, fully-grown lioness. Behind her is a second lioness. And behind me is a third. And they are hunting. What is the one thing I need so that I can enjoy this moment that I've worked hard to find, and leave the situation with my life, and theirs, intact? Have a think on that - we'll come back to it. Every year, I go home...

Helen Lederer - and I'm her understudy

Last week I was asked to understudy Helen Lederer (pictured centre). If you've never had the absolute JOY, PLEASURE AND LIFE-AFFIRMING YESNESS OF AB FAB IN YOUR LIFE......then I'm sorry for you. Get on that shit today. It will change your life. Helen is a British comedy icon and worked with Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley, as well as Dawn French and Ruby Wax in the female-led genius tv show Absolutely Fabulous. And I was asked to understudy her last week. Am I terrified? YesWill I be...

The Great Debrief - An event for business owners who want to drink the tea

I have two bits of deliciousness for you today, Reader. Because Fridays are for giving - I mean, that's what they are for me. Sooooooo....here we go! DELICIOUSNESS NUMBER ONE: Something lovely happened to me a little while ago. I met someone called Pete. Pete is an actor, like me. And like me, he's also started his own business. And he has a podcast! It's called Not a Straight Line. Yesterday, our chat together dropped - and I have to say, I'm pretty jazzed about it. Pete's episodes are...
