Hey there Reader This morning I sat on LinkedIn at 5am, thinking about what to post. Thinking about the algorithm. Thinking about how tired I am of LinkedIn. And here's the thing, right? I am supposed to be on holiday. I'm in South Africa, surrounded by nature. I'm in a thatched-roof cabin, FFS, about to go scuba diving in Sodwana Bay on the East Coast...and here I am working. I'm thinking. I'm trying to create content. I'm fully immersed in the rat race. It feels like shit, not gonna lie. A couple of weeks ago I was in the Kruger Park spotting lions and zebra and giraffe, and I had no access to the internet, and it was BLISS. It's got me thinking...why are we pushing so hard all the time? Why aren't we letting go sometimes? I think the biggest enemy of good writing and regular content creation is the fact that we don't ever stop. We never pause. We never write for the pure joy of it. I know that five years ago, I used to write for absolute pleasure. Now I write with some kind of end goal in mind. It sucks. So, what if instead of writing for the sake of creating content and moving your business forward... You just write for the JOY of writing. You write for pleasure. You sit down with a cup of tea and music playing and you just create something for you. Maybe you don't even type it. Maybe you use (gasp) paper and a pen. Every single day, as you sit down in front of your laptop, or you take the bus to work, or you sit in your car… You know that more is coming at you – more tasks, more chores, more work, more, more, more. And you know what makes the ‘more’ even harder? The fact that YOU KNOW IT’S COMING. It is relentless. There is no respite. No relief. Your life is missing the one important thing that makes everything work properly…
JOY. You deserve more. You deserve to give yourself time to… 🌀 Step away from the laptop and simply write for the sake of it 🌀 Release limiting beliefs that are holding you back as you write about your experiences and your life 🌀 Move forward mindfully, with self-acceptance 🌀 Gain deeper self-awareness through writing for pleasure, and connecting with your voice 🌀 Connect with your inner world, creative spirit, and subconscious through mindful writing 🌀 Discover rituals of creativity that will bring new energy, vibrancy, and purpose to your everyday 🌀 Harness your true voice and self-expression through creative writing
And I promise, the more you do this, the better your writing will become. The stronger your content will get. Because you will know yourself more. You will know your voice better. And the more your write, the better you write. It's like flexing a muscle. The bolder your voice will become because you will have connected with yourself again. So...take time. The next time you head over to your content calendar...shut it down. Tell it NO. Breathe. And write for you. For pleasure. Don't judge it. Don't doubt what you're writing. Don't censor yourself. Try and do it regularly. You'll be amazed at the sparks that fly from your fingertips. Ash. |
Whaddup. If you're a business owner and you're selling STUFF - then you need to compel your audience to buy that STUFF. That's what I do.I've spent years learning about what makes people buy things - and I've learned how to translate that into compelling copy that converts. I want to share as much as I've learned with you.Like how to...Write copy because you know who your audience is, not because you're guessingWrite in the voice of your customerWrite copy that kisses the screenWrite in a way that you stand outEnd blank page syndromeYou feeling me?
